Why you should Improve Concentration and Memory Together

First lets look at what concentration and memory are individually. Concentration is when you direct your mental power towards a specific task or activity.Memory is the ability to recall past experiences info and personal relationships. In reality improving your concentration and improving your memory go hand-in-hand together. To improve one without the other makes no sense at all. If you improve your memory on its own, your results will be far lower and improvement far slower, than if you worked on your concentration and memory together.

I would like to show you to five easy steps to improving your concentration and memory.

Step one:
Be stress free and relaxed. You’ll find it far easier to concentrate and improve your memory in a relaxed state of mind. Try taking a couple deep breaths put on some relaxing music and forget about all your days tasks and worries. Only in a relaxed state of mind can we truly start to work on improving concentration and memory.

Step two:
Remember! To improve your concentration and memory you should be challenging yourself. Challenging yourself should also be fun. One of the keys to boosting brainpower is actually having fun. Science has now proven that laughter and fun activities enhance your learning ability greatly.

So put yourself in challenging situations. But keep in mind that improving your memory and concentration is supposed to be fun. So the next time you pick up a crossword puzzle and your starting to get frustrated, take a couple deep breaths and remember this is supposed to be fun. One of the best ways I find to improving my memory and concentration is to watch a comedy movie. Then after the movie I like to recall all the funniest moments. Sharing these moments with friends brings laughter to the table. It’s easy fun and a great way to boost my memory and concentration skills.

Step three:
Learn a new language. Learning a new language stimulates different parts of the brain and has now been proven to actually grow new neural pathways and tissues. This growth and development of the brain is called neuronal plasticity. Learning a new language brings a whole field of new challenges to the table. We are taken out of our comfort zone and into a new line of communication. Amazingly as many people say to start a new language can be quite difficult. But as time goes on your improvement rate increases at a faster rate. The size of your brain expands and creates new memory folders for your new language and the bigger it gets the faster it learns.

Step four:
Engage in exercises and activities that use the tips of your fingers. One of the best ways to do this is to learn a musical instrument. By using the tips of your fingers your brain is sending signals from the brain to the ends of your fingers giving your brain a mental workout. Your coordination will improve, concentration will improve and therefore your memory will to. Learning a musical instrument can be very rewarding and to some a lucrative trade.

Step five:
Be social. In a social environment our brains work overtime. The best way to increase concentration and memory is to be engaged in conversation you’re having. Too many times people find themselves in a social environment and just plain daydreaming. Be aware of the person you’re talking to, engage with them, reply to the conversation. By just being aware and engaging in the conversation, you will improve your memory and concentration. You’ll also have far stronger relationship with the people you converse with. Too many times people blame a bad memory on an actual lack of concentration.

So remember if you’re trying to improve your memory it is vital that you work on your concentration techniques at the same time. The two go hand in hand like peas in a pod!

The human brain is a quite remarkable instrument. In fact, your brain not only benefits exercise, it thrives on it. What exercises does your brain enjoy? There are two types of intelligence: crystallized and fluid. Crystallized intelligence is when your brain falls back upon knowledge or existing skills to solve a problem, IE your memory. Something worked once before so it will work again. Fluid intelligence relies on your brain’s ability to analyze and understand the relationships and analogies between various artifacts or concepts when solving problems. Fluid intelligence is independent upon prior experience, knowledge, or skill. As IQ is your capacity to learn “new” things, by training your brain in how to learn them, IE exercizing you are boosting your IQ.

Puzzles like Sudoku and games like chess can improve your mental age by up to 14 years and stave off the onset of diseases like Alzheimer’s. Solving a Rubik’s cube can also help to increase the cognitive comprehension aspect of your IQ. The puzzle itself happens to be one of the most misspelled words in the English language, along with the word misspelled. Rubik’s Cube was invented in the 70′s by an architect of Hungarian descent. It is said to be the most amongst the most popular sold toy in the world! It also serves to stimulate that grey matter and get in going. If you can’t find one in your local toy store, then you’re bound to know an individual who has one stored away in a deep dark box stored up in their attic, or thrown behind the sofa in a moment of weighty frustration. If not, grab one up at your local goodwill store for pennies and get shuffling and stimulating that grey matter.

Lastly and on a less stressful note, you can put yourself more in the moment with mindfulness exercises and you’ll give yourself more brain power. These unique exercises put you in a state of awareness, and allow you let go of distractions. Done regularly, these exercises let you think more clearly and help you to concentrate. The most basic mindfulness exercise begins with simply relaxing and breathing deeply. Close your eyes and pay attention to your breathing. After a short time, move your focus to your body, a part at a time, noticing any sensations or anything you can identify. After a few minutes of attention on your body, start listening to the sounds of the room, without judging or criticizing or even thinking about them. Just listen. Your brain just like a muscle needs time to rest.

Throughout the world, Brain, mind, soul and consciousness are used interchangeably during conversations. Brain is the most vital physical organ in the body and is like a master computer. Mind is subtle body that operates through brain and five sense organs. Thoughts, emotions, ego, memory, sensations, reasoning, logic, desires operates through mind. Soul is human essence, your sense of self and operates through mind; and it is behind: I am what I am. Consciousness is unconditioned awareness that transcends time and space. It also operates through mind, infinite, immaterial, immortal, instrument for salvation. It is the universal principle, pervading the entire world of nature and no scientist can reproduce, test, reproduce or understand.

Brain understands better with comparison. Brain is like an umbrella and it works better when it is open. 20% of body oxygen goes to brain. Brain weighs about 1350-1450 grams. There are 10 trillion cells, 20 billion neurons (nerve cells), and 30,000 genes. One cubic centimeter of brain tissue has one trillion connections like an internet net work. It functions and operates with electrical and chemical impulses. It regulates your body, blood pressure, breathing, heart rate, temperature and is the only organ with auto-regulation. With brain, every thing is a balance of act. Human brain has enough redundancy and plasticity.

I hope this gave you an idea of the power of your brain. You can expand your horizons with the power of your brain. There is no limit to it. Just by a thought with your mind you can travel to anywhere in the universe with the blink of your eye. Nothing in the universe can travel faster than your mind and thought. Human brain alone invented computer to spaceship and put a man on the moon.

Emotions stem from your thoughts. Negative emotions like anger, hatred, intolerance to other religions and cultures; bigotry, sectarianism, prejudice, hypocrisy, and discrimination; not only create unhappiness but have the toll on your bodily health. They can lead to hypertension, depression, obesity, heart problems and strokes. On the contrary, if you nurture your brain with positive thoughts; they elevate your self esteem and bring happiness into your life and you maintain a healthy content life.

The most important for you to remember is that you can change what you think and gain some conscious control over your emotional life. It is the power of your brain to change your mind for the better.

Any person can understand the true nature of one’s brain power. Knowledge is always there and you only shed your incognizance through knowledge of your true inner self; just like a snake sheds its old skin every month in order to gain new skin.

Poor economic conditions are making people work longer in life but there may be advantages.
A recent study from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London found that men who continue working later in life helped keep their brains’ sharp. What’s interesting is that the scientists now believe that this retirement delay is having a reduction on the number of people developing dementia and in particular Alzheimer’s.

In the UK, around 700,000 people currently have dementia, the most common of which is Alzheimer. Symptoms include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding. Relatives of sufferers speak about a disease that robs them of the person they love for whom they are unable to grieve.

Of course age and medical factors do play a part so there’s no guarantee
that you or your relatives won’t develop dementia. A good lifestyle, however, is key to keeping the brain healthy and memory sharp.

Consider the following:

Get active
Watch your blood pressure and cholesterol
Cut down on salt
Eat healthily
Keep a healthy weight.

For those retiring there are still ways of making sure the brain is kept mentally stimulated including voluntary work. Voluntary work is a great way to keep up communication skills. In fact just chatting to people helps the neurons work. Intellect work could even be in the form of producing accounts or writing press releases for a charity.

Physical activities are also important and little tasks such as ,steam mopping, the kitchen floor can help keep one active. Some may consider,steam mopping, a local church or charity shop, regularly. Any type of voluntary activity is rewarding.

The key to life is to keep both mentally and physically active especially during retirement years. The new evidence from King’s College London suggests that a healthy lifestyle really can help delay cruel diseases like Alzheimer’s. Even small tasks such as ,steam mopping, can play a role.
