Short Term Memory Loss Medication
Does anyone taking Depakote experience forgetfulness, memory loss, bad short term memory?
Ive been on Depakote for about 9 years now and Ive never had a seizure since i began taking it (except for the one when i experimented and didn’t take my medication for 4 days…my own fault).
But i just wanted to see if anyone else had side effects such as:
1. Extreme forgetfulness. I’ll read an article in the newspaper and tell myself to pay attention, but then 5mins later i couldn’t tell you what the article was about even if you prompted me with some clues.
2. Forgetting words mid-sentence. Cannot remember the most simple words when talking to people.
3. General lack of focus. Cannot stay interested in a subject for more than 30 seconds to 3 minutes or say.
Your attention/focus issues may be related to something else, and really should be discussed with your prescribing physician. Although Depakote is not without side effects, cognitive impairment isn’t one of the ususals……(almost sounds like ADD).
