Sensory Memory Short Term Memory

The short-term memory, sometimes called "primary" and "work" or "active" memory, it says that a small amount of information for about 20 seconds. Estimates of short-term memory capacity vary – from about 3 or 4 elements (ie, words, numbers or letters) to about 9 elements: a commonly cited capacity is 7.2 items. In contrast, long-term memory indefinitely stores a seemingly unlimited amount of information. The short-term memory can be described as the ability (or ability) to hold in mind, in an active state, high availability, a small amount of information. The information contained in the short-term memory can be:

– Recently Sensory processing;

– Articles recently recovered memory long-term or

– The result of the mental transformation of the past, although that is more general, related to the concept of working memory.

The relationship between short-term memory and working memory is described differently by various theorists, but it is generally acknowledged that the two concepts are different. Working memory is a theoretical framework that refers to structures and processes used to temporarily store and manipulate information. As such, working memory also can be seen as care work. The short-term memory generally refers to a theory neutral way for short-term storage of information. Thus, although there are components of short-term memory to working memory models, the concept of short-term memory is different from these more hypothetical concepts.

When it comes to understand more about memory, it is worthwhile to consider first what is the nature of memory is, and also its various functions, as well as ways and means which can be used in our daily lives. Memory is a process by which a human being or another living organism can store and keep well as subsequently retrieve or recall pieces of information, and furthermore, it also pays to understand the workings of memory and learn from their various classifications that they are based on information type, duration and also the methods by which they recover.

Among the different forms of memory we know, no short-term memory differs from long-term memory and sensory memory. Short-term memory is that the type of memory that allows us to remember little things for a few seconds, or even from the time a minute ago, and it's normal for short-term memory to allow storage of objects of only four or five years, although this number may increase depending on what is known as clustering.'' Thus, clustering, when you see a group of letters arranged in rows and not in encrypted form, which allows us to remind the groups of characters much longer than in the case of scrambled letters only.

In estimating the length of time that short-term memory may have the information, you must understand that it could not only are three to four elements such as words, letters or numbers that can be stored, but may even rise up to nine pieces, which is in marked contrast to the long-term memory in which to store and consultation in recent years and the amount of information recalled can be almost unlimited. In other words, it would be wrong to describe short memory term and retention capacity in the mind that is in an active state of a small amount of data or information included such things as sensory contribution recently processed information or items that were recently retrieved from long-term memory and, ultimately, could be results of some mental processes that just took place, although such information can improve by processed by working memory.

Furthermore, it was found that all memories are effectively of short-term memory to long-term memory after the passage of a certain amount of time, although there is still no definite knowledge available in terms of how the mechanism that transfers information from short-term memory to long-term memory actually functions. Therefore, it is safe to say that any small piece of information that sticks in the mind immediately Once you have found this information is stored in short-term memory, and all others are stored in working memory, or long-term memory, or even in sensory memory.
