Mnemonics Medical

Mnemonics Medical
any memorization tips?

do not say mnemonics it does not work for me. I need to memorize medical terminology, cell structures and functions, organ placments and function, medical names for every part of the body…ect. i feel like my brain can not hold it all.

I like writing things – and a LOT of people are that type of learner – you have to write it to get it “written” in your brain too.

Some people need to hear things – so I like reading aloud ot myself – talking to myself as if I was the teacher and the student.

A lot of people are visual – and therefore writing helps. A quick and easy way to deal with visual is to make a flashcard. Terminology on one side, and then whatever you need on the other (e.g. eyeball on one side, located on a person’s head is another). You can put pictures even on one side with arrows pointing to the body part and the body part on the other.

Flashcards are nice because then you can do them on the bus, while walking, at lunch. ANd they are easy to haul around.

it’s most important for you to determine what kind of learner you are – so you can figure out how to study

auditory: you have to hear it
visual: you have to see it
kinesthetic: you have to do it

A lot of people are combinations of these but have a predominant learning style. Most are visual, and kinesthetic helps. For auditory, if you are one of those people, it’s a little harder. You might need to make tapes of information from books and descriptions and names of things and you listen to them over and over and over again. It’s a little bit of work in terms of making the tapes, but again, carrying them around and listening to them over and over is pretty easy – especially if you are cmputer savvy and can mp3 yourself.

Good luck!
