is all this hype about memory groundless?
is it really neccesary for any normal person to have more than 4 gb of memory? or is just a marketing technique to sell more memory? my 64 os runs nice and stable, but most of my old games wont play on it. i have 4gb of ram and was thinking about getting more some day, or would i just be wasting money? is it worth not being able to play my awesome games like slave zero and oni and red faction just to have an extra gb of memory in my system? i always envisioned myself having and intel i7 950 processor and 12gb of ram, do i need it? or am i a compulsive shopper? lol thanks

As time passes to run more applications, or to run software in the future as it is becoming more demanding, yes it will be necessary to have more RAM in your system. But as for now if your computer runs fine and you aren’t worried about benchmarking or running a server that requires tons of RAM like 32 GB then you are perfectly fine. But in the future there will be a time where it will be mainstream to have more than 4 gigabytes. Or to do what you want to do on it will require more RAM. Don’t worry about adding more ram for now
