Memory Loss Head Trauma

Memory loss due to head trauma?

When someone suffers head trauma what are the things that can be forgotten, like name, mother+father girlfriend, boyfriend, other loved ones, where you live, stuff you learned in school the last day, week month? How far does the loss go back (week, month, year?) Stuff like that.

How long does it last (if there is an average, assuming it is going to come back)

Average times for recovery and such.. any answers would be helpful!

the real reason i want to know is cause my friend cant remember many things after he got hit on the head with a baseball and passed out, but the doc said he was fine…. he clearly is not!

it depends on the case and what exactly the trama was. some times people only forget a few days out of the week and some people forget any new information. my cousin would forget huge chunks of time, but remember a few days in between what she forgot. for her, her memory returned after a few months, but that was her case. some people never get back their memory, but usually, long term things and skills don’t go away. unless there is severe brain damage, a person never really “forgets” how to button a shirt or tie a show (remember that just because a person may not physically be able to do this, and may have to “re learn” how, that doesnt mean the person has forgotton how to tie a shoe – the mind and body are seperate)
