Human Memory Capacity
Is unlimited long-term memory to human brains?
I've always wondered about this. It seems that it should be. I do not know! I have not heard / read anyone's brain explode from their memory capacity is reached. I guess if a human brain is limited in size, then the brain is not clearly infinite, and the things contained in the brain can not possibly be infinite. But suppose someone can live to 1,000 years, 10,000 years, or even millions of years and I guess this person wanted to earn hundreds of degrees of PhD and devoured a billion of its medium size books, or if that person (100% human) is so stubborn and boring that he / she just stubbornly memorized countless (and I mean it seems "infinite" number of) the poems of allegiance and could recite all the perfect lines of poetry to the letter. Is there an upper limit to this capacity??? Now, with the average man's life well below 100 years, it seems anyone can use a small fraction of the brain, even if they are constantly puts himself in the details, but if there is a limit, what is?
The memory does not really work like that. Memory, as far as we understand it has to do with the neurons change their connections with other neurons (connections stronger, connections with different neurons). Memory may involve generation of new neurons, but not many. These are mainly the connections change. So I do not there is a limit in fact. There are billions of neurons in the human brain (of course, not all of these are involved in memory, but there are still many things are) and so many connections can be made and strengthened between these cells.
