Three examples of Mnemonics:
1. COLORS OF THE RAINBOW
Mnemonic: “Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain”
Meaning : Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet
2. THE FIVE GREAT LAKES
Mnemonic: “HOMES”
Meaning : Huron Ontario Michigan Erie Superior
3. ASTRONOMY, TYPES OF STARS
Mnemonic: “Oh Be A Fine Girl Kiss Me”
Meaning : O B A F G K M

FACE – space lines on a musical staff from bottom to top for treble clef
my very excellent mother just sliced us nine pizzas
mercury venus earth mars jupiter saturn uranus pluto (although pluto doesnt really count anymore)
OIL RIG – oxidation/reduction reactions
oil it loses, reduction it gains (as in losing and gaining electrons)
CUPS – functions of DNA
copies, uses, passes, stores (in terms of genetic information)
oh and SOH CAH TOA – it sounds better to say, like so cah toe-ah for trigonometric functions
SOH: sine = opposite/ (divided by) hypotenuse
CAH: adjacent/hypotenuse
TOA: tangent = opposite/adjacent
N’CHOPS – like “nice chops!”, which anyways, stands for the vital elements of living things
nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, sulfur
