Memory loss is a condition that is usually believed to follow with aging. It could be a symptom of disease, or perhaps some psychological problems such as depression. Apart from this some other factors are also known to lead to this condition. Mostly, the extreme cases dealing with this problem are often abandoned by their family. When many consider them as outcasts, caregiver jobs or CNA jobs are trained to serve them. It is not like there is no hope. If you have a supporting family, surely you can overcome the problem of memory loss. Here are some tips to help you with that.

• Consulting a doctor should not be delayed if the problem becomes chronic. This is where sudden lapses of memory loss will start interfering in your daily life. With the help of a doctor, you will be able to reach to the root cause of this problem. In this way finding the right treatment will become easier.

• Also, try to understand that information stored in the short-term memory only lasts for a while. This is why it is called the working memory; it is linked to long-term memory. If you get momentary lapses of memory loss then it is important to recall things or events which can help. In this case, the relatives can assist the person to recall things.

• Try to repeat things that you wish to retain in your mind. You can use your sense of sight, hearing and speech to constantly recall things that you wish to remember.

• A possible cause of temporary memory loss can be drugs or alcohol. Try to cut back on their consumption. These potential agents are known to speed up the process of memory loss.

• Maintain a journal of your routine activities and keep noting the tasks you have performed throughout the week. In case you forget anything, you can easily read through to recall. When it becomes a habit, you will naturally start recalling things.

• Be particular about your sleep timings. Go to bed at a set time every night and it is important to get eight hours of sleep every day. Depression or lack of sleep can also aggravate the problem and you may have memory loss earlier in life.

• Whatever you are trying to recall, just say it aloud. This will further increase your chances of retaining the thought. This technique works well on almost all patients of amnesia.

With all these tips, you can surely combat with memory loss. However, it is better to start the treatment as soon as you know about your habit of forgetfulness. The state of forgetfulness is often linked to memory loss. However the distinction is that forgetfulness comes with aging whereas, memory loss is a symptom of other conditions including aging. With aging you are likely to have difficulty in learning and retaining new stuff, but this does not mean that the normal aging is the cause of memory loss. In most cases, it is an accompanying disease that results in this condition.

How To Have A Photographic Memory

The majority of people believe that you are born with a photographic memory, however, this is not always the case. You can develop an eidetic memory, often called photographic memory, with a lot of practice and a good deal of patience. If you are interested in developing your memory skills you should firstly seek some instruction on how to have a photographic memory. You can start by reading books on the topic or listening to audiotapes that deal with how to have photographic memory. Other people prefer to watch video tapes or DVDs or even engage some personal instruction from someone who teaches photographic memory techniques.

For those who need reminding our brains function in a way that is similar to a computer’s hard drive, as it has the ability to store enormous amounts of information. A computer stores information in files and allows you to retrieve the data from the files whenever you need them. Our brains work in a similar fashion, so it is important to send the information we want to store and later recall to the correct ‘file’ in our brain.

Can you imagine trying to retrieve information that has just been stored in a great bundle and not put in any particular order? When learning how to have a photographic memory, you learn to file information away in an orderly fashion so that it is instantly retrievable whenever you need it.

Association and Pictures – Helpful Techniques for Brain Training

We have all, at some time, been introduced to a new person and within two minutes have completely forgotten their name. A photographic memory technique which is effective for remembering this type of detail is to use word association. If, for instance, you were to be introduced to a rather large gentleman by the name of Albert, by using name association you could reference Albert to the cartoon TV Series ‘Fat Albert’. While this association may be unkind, it is a very effective way of quickly remembering someone’s name – try it, you will be surprised at how well this works.

If you have trouble remembering numbers then try to think of objects in place of the numbers. For example let’s say you are trying to memorize the numbers One Five Five (155) – this could be visualized as a cricket bat being held by two gloves. The number one is represented by the shape of the bat and the gloves signify the five fingers. Once you learn this simple skill and start to think in pictures, you are well on the way to developing a photographic memory and your ability to remember things will be a whole lot easier.

Studies by researchers have shown that the connection between the different parts of the brain is a continuous process. If there is a distraction in one part of the brain the effectiveness of the other part of the brain is reduced. By learning how to implement and use proven photographic memory techniques as part of a daily process the brain can be trained to work without interference of interruptions and distractions, and from there information will be retained more readily. As is with most things, the more you practice the better you will get, and in time your mind will become like a steel trap for information.

Adult ADD: Memory Blues?

If you have adult ADD, your memory may tend to be faulty. Your brain may tend to be real creative, and so sometimes you’ll be so lost in your own thoughts and have no memory of things that happen to you. No memory of things that people said, no memory of things that people did, no memory of places that you’ve even gone to visit when people are referencing it, until they mention just the right thing.

Does this embarrass you? Don’t let it! Realize the problem. You may be busy looking toward the future and so, you may not need to spend time looking back.

That’s a personal choice, of course, and it’s a way of dealing with your ADD. And you have to realize that if your brain is spinning at the speed of light, paying attention to many things all at the same time, some of that stuff just isn’t going to stick.

So if you are an ADDer who has memory and recall problems, there are two things that you can do. The first thing is be okay with it. The second thing is, you can learn specific techniques in order to help yourself improve, enhance, increase your ability to remember the things you wish to remember.

Tellman took a course, that came from an infomercial on TV, called Mega Memory by Kevin Trudell.

He saw it as an awesome course, and it helped him to remember his grocery list, to start remembering names and faces, to start remembering dates, facts–anything he wanted to remember, where remembering was actually important.

Mega Memory uses an awesome system of pictures and body anchoring, but it really goes much deeper. Taking the course was a conscious choice for Tellman, and after he made the choice to improve his memory, it actually got better than the memories of many of the people he knows.

He has to consistently apply the techniques he learned, though. When he doesn’t, his memory goes back to normal and his brain flies off in many directions at onces, and his ability to remember important things just goes away.

So what’s the big deal? I don’t know. If you make a lot of money, and are very successful, if you have a very happy life, are in great shape, and your memory stinks, is that such a bad thing?

Here’s the thing: There are certain things that it’s really important to remember, and then there are certain things that other people think it’s important for you to remember. And you gotta understand the distinction about that.

Appointments and grocery lists are important, and so is where you’re going when you leave the house. You need to be especially responsible when other people are depending on you, like when you make an appointment and someone expects you to be there.

That’s just polite and good business. Always write appointments down. Never trust yourself to remember things like that.

It’s important when you go shopping, too. Maybe you can retain about three or four things, but if your mind goes off in another direction, you may not even recall such a short list. That means you’ll be going back out the next day to get what you didn’t the day before, wasting time, wasting gas, ultimately wasting money. So, before leaving your house, write what you’re going out to get down. Then, you needn’t worry about remembering or making unnecessary trips back to the store.

It’s really important that you make extensive use of notes for the important things.

We never rely on our memories for anything—ever. We write everything down in our daily planners or calendars and we use those to remind us of what we need to do, where we have to pick up, etc. It doesn’t hurt to surround yourself with linear-thinking people, either, who can remind you to do things. Make it their job, whether they’re friends, family, or employees. That works out well. There’s not a thing wrong in doing that.

And again, if you need to improve your memory to get better grades, if you need to improve your memory in a certain aspect of your business, just go out and take a course on how to improve your memory and presto change-o, you’ll be able to use it.

Knowing First Aid Tips and Cpr. Remembering the Basics

Learning first aid techniques is very important. But it can be hard sometimes to remember them all when it comes time to administer first aid. I want to provide to you some little known tricks to help you remember, not only how to perform first aid, but why you need to do these steps correctly. Once you can remember these tips, you can jump in, take control of the situation and begin performing first aid or CPR.

Make up a Mnemonic

When medical students are in school, they need to learn a lot of information quickly in order to pass their classes. And while many of us believe they are simply smarter than the rest of us, much of the time, they use learning tricks to retain knowledge – not their IQ. These tricks are called mnemonics. For example, when you have a sprained ankle or other body part, you might remember ICE. This stands for ice, compression, elevation. If you can remember the word and letters, its easy to come up with the proper steps to take.

In the case of a wound, you might remember PCC – pressure, clean, cover. You can even make up your own Mnemonics as long as you can make it easy to remember when first aid becomes nessasary.

Practice, Practice, Practice

It sounds dull, but the simplest way to remember first aid procedures is to practice them often. Perhaps you can review your first aid class notes or books once a week to keep the steps fresh in your mind, for example. Sometimes you may even want to hook up with a friend and go over the first aid procedures that you have already learned. Make sure to keep your first aid certification up to date as well.

If you took a first aid class, it might not be a bad idea to go over your quizzes again and again until you have them memorized. There are alot of tests you can take online to aid you training for first aid certification.

Keep a Manual Around

When your mind goes blank on first aid procedures during an actual emergency, you might want to have a first aid book easily available. This book should be simple to flip through to find what you need – tabbed books are best. It might seem a little overwhelming at first. Having a first aid book nearby will help you stay focused and relaxed. Make sure that your book is up to date on the latest advice and that its copyright date is no older than a few years back from the current year.

Apply these little tips and tricks to help you remember the first aid basics. Then, you should have no problem helping others when the need arises to administer first aid.
